Sharon Gless otherwise known as Sharon Marguelite Gless is an American actress famous for her act roles on television. The industry has recognized Gless for her outstanding contributions to television and film, and she has won two Emmy Awards, received a Golden Globe Award, and been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In total, Gless has been nominated for ten Emmy Awards.

She is the daughter of Marjorie McCarthy and Dennis J. Gless. Her father worked as a sportswear manufacturing executive, and her mother was an actress.

Sharon Gless has one sibling, a sister named Arlene Gless, who is also an actress. Arlene has appeared in several TV shows and movies, including “Love, American Style” and “The Streets of San Francisco.”

Sharon Marriage/Divorce

She has been married twice in her life. Her first marriage was to Barry Tubb, an actor and director, in 1990. They divorced in 1997 after seven years of marriage. They did not have any children together.

In 1999, Sharon Gless married her second husband, producer Barney Rosenzweig, whom she met while working on “Cagney & Lacey”. Rosenzweig was also a producer on the show. The couple does not have any children together. She and Barney Rosenzweig are still married.

Gless Career

Gless began her acting career in the late 1960s and early 1970s, appearing in a number of stage productions before making her television debut in 1974 on the series “Marcus Welby, M.D.” She went on to appear in a variety of television shows, including “Switch,” “The Rockford Files,” and “Barnaby Jones.”

In 1982, Gless was cast as Christine Cagney in the television series “Cagney & Lacey,” which became a huge success and ran for seven seasons. Gless won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Cagney, and the show tackled important social issues such as domestic violence, abortion, and sexual harassment.

The USA Network series “Burn Notice” cast her as Madeline Westen in 2007, and she played the role for seven seasons.

Throughout her career, various organizations recognized Gless for her acting talent, and she received numerous awards, including ten Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations. Many consider her to be one of the most talented and versatile actresses of her generation.
