Tara Lane Biography
Tara Lane is an American meteorologist working for FOX 46. Lane attended East Carolina University earning a bachelor’s degree and then joined Mississippi State University. She is also a member of the National Weather Association and earned her National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
A the age of 8 and living in Memphis, Tenn., a tornado ripped the roof off her home and caused severe damage to her community. The dramatic event sparked her interest in meteorology.
She began her broadcasting career at WITN in Washington, NC, as a producer and weather anchor. While at WITN, she covered
the fury of Hurricane Floyd — one of the worst storms in North Carolina’s history. She became a Meteorologist at the start-up 24-hour cable news station News 14 Carolina (now Spectrum News), where she worked for the next 15 years. Her work at Spectrum News involved many hours of live, continuous coverage of everything from hurricanes to winter storms.
Lane then spent a year in Columbus, Ohio at NBC4 before returning to Charlotte.
