Sharon Gless is an American actress, born Sharon Marguelite, famous for her acting roles on television. She is a multi-Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress. Popularly known as Maggie Philbin, the naïve. Young receptionists of Frank MacBride and Pete Ryan on Switch. Sgt. Christine Cagney in the drama series Cagney & Lacey and as Madeline Westen on Burn Notice.

Gless began her role in acting in 1972, when the head of talent at Universal Studios perceived a take-notice quality in her and signed her as a contract player. Gless remained under contract for the next decade. In 1982, the studio ended all talent contracts, earmarking her as the last contract player in the history of Hollywood.

She is the daughter of Marjorie McCarthy and sportswear manufacturing executive Dennis J. Gless, who was raised as a Roman Catholic. She has two brothers, Michael and Aric, but her parents divorced when she was a teenager.
Her maternal grandfather was Neil McCarthy, a prominent Los Angeles attorney for Howard Hughes. Her grandfather offered much support for her to endorse acting, as he had a large clientele of major film studio executives and actors.

This show led to the awarding of the two lead actresses who won the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama (four wins for Daly, two for Gless).
