Benji Madden Biography
Benji Madden (Benjamin Levi) is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer. Madden is the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for the band Good Charlotte and also pop rock collaboration The Madden Brothers.
Madden started playing guitar at the age of 16 and began writing songs shortly after. In 1996, he and his brother Joel formed Good Charlotte, which quickly gained popularity in the punk rock scene. The band’s debut album, “Good Charlotte,” was released in 2000 and was a commercial success, reaching No. 185 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Over the next decade, Good Charlotte released six more albums, including “The Young and the Hopeless,” which spawned the hit single “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” The band’s music tackled themes of teenage angst, social inequality, and mental health issues.
In addition to his work with Good Charlotte, Madden has also collaborated with other musicians and produced albums for artists such as 5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low, and The Maine. He also formed the band The Madden Brothers with his brother Joel, releasing the album “Greetings from California” in 2014.
Madden has also had success outside of music, serving as a coach on the Australian version of “The Voice” and appearing as a judge on “The Voice Kids” in Australia and “The Voice” in the United States. He has also been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including the creation of the “Madden Brothers’ UNICEF Day” in 2013.
In 2015, Madden married actress Cameron Diaz, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix, in 2019. Today, Madden continues to work on music projects and is an advocate for mental health awareness.
