Carmen got married to Jason Lee, then a professional skateboarder in 1995 in a ceremony presided over by actor Bodhi Elfman. The couple had met in 1995. They lived together in Southern California in March 2001. Llywelyn and Jason obtained a divorce in 2001.

Carmen was introduced to the Church of Scientology by her then-partner Jason Lee. According to her, her resistance to becoming more involved with Scientology was a cause of problems in their relationship.

According to her own account, when she revealed to her talent manager that she had read A Piece of Blue Sky, a book critical of the Church, Carmen was labeled a Suppressive Person and shunned (or “disconnected”) by her friends within the church.

Carmen’s manager, a member of the Church, also “disconnected” and allegedly convinced United Talent Agency to drop Llywelyn as a client.

Since she left, she has been an outspoken critic of the Church of Scientology. She has also expressed distaste for the classist undertones of Scientology.

Carmen has stated the organization has harassed her, pursuant to the Fair Game policy. Her reports being subjected to a campaign of surveillance and harassment.

Which is essentially a complex system dedicated to ruining the lives of those it sees as enemies in any way possible. Those who work for the OSA do not follow the law.”
