Charmayne Brown is an American award-winning journalist with nearly 20 years of industry experience. A news reporter with the WFXR News Team where he joined n July 2018. She is the Morning News Anchor for Good Day Virginia. She comes to Virginia from South Carolina. She’s been a managing editor, producer, reporter; both general assignments and investigative, and filled in on the anchor desk. Charmayne has worked in Fort Myers and Jacksonville, Florida; Harrisonburg, Virginia; and both Charleston and Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Charmayne Brown, also known as Maxee Maxwell, was married to Carsten Soulshock, a Danish music producer and songwriter. They were married in 2006 and remained together until Charmayne’s untimely death in 2015. Carsten Soulshock has worked with a number of notable artists, including Whitney Houston, Usher, and Justin Bieber.
Charmayne graduated from The College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. She went on to receive a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. And currently, Charmayne is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design at Clemson University.
Charmayne “Maxee” Brown was an American singer and member of the R&B group Brownstone. Brownstone was formed in 1993 and consisted of Charmayne Brown, Monica Doby, and Nichole Gilbert. They were signed to Michael Jackson’s record label, MJJ Music, and released their debut album, “From the Bottom Up,” in 1995. The album featured the hit singles “If You Love Me” and “Grapevyne,” which both charted in the top ten on the Billboard R&B chart.
Brownstone’s second album, “Still Climbing,” was released in 1997, and featured the hit single “5 Miles to Empty.” After the release of the album, the group disbanded, and Charmayne Brown pursued a solo career.
In 2002, Charmayne Brown released a solo album titled “Bittersweet,” which featured the single “When I Look Into Your Eyes.” She also collaborated with various artists throughout her career, including Eric Benet and Johnny Gill.
Tragically, Charmayne Brown passed away on February 28, 2015, at the age of 46. She died from injuries sustained from a fall in her home. Her death was a great loss to the music industry and her fans.
