Career
Charmayne “Maxee” Brown was an American singer and member of the R&B group Brownstone. Brownstone was formed in 1993 and consisted of Charmayne Brown, Monica Doby, and Nichole Gilbert. They were signed to Michael Jackson’s record label, MJJ Music, and released their debut album, “From the Bottom Up,” in 1995. The album featured the hit singles “If You Love Me” and “Grapevyne,” which both charted in the top ten on the Billboard R&B chart.
Brownstone’s second album, “Still Climbing,” was released in 1997, and featured the hit single “5 Miles to Empty.” After the release of the album, the group disbanded, and Charmayne Brown pursued a solo career.
In 2002, Charmayne Brown released a solo album titled “Bittersweet,” which featured the single “When I Look Into Your Eyes.” She also collaborated with various artists throughout her career, including Eric Benet and Johnny Gill.
Tragically, Charmayne Brown passed away on February 28, 2015, at the age of 46. She died from injuries sustained from a fall in her home. Her death was a great loss to the music industry and her fans.
