Colin Trevorrow Biography
Colin Trevorrow (Colin T. Trevorrow) is an American film director and screenwriter. Colin directed the indie film Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) and also the blockbuster film Jurassic World (2015). He also co-wrote the script to Jurassic World and its 2018 sequel.
He sang in the chorus of the San Francisco Opera as a boy and won awards from the Mill Valley Film Festival and the San Francisco Youth Film Festival aqs a teenager. He graduated from Piedmont High School in Piedmont, California, and then graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1999.

Colin Trevorrow Career
Colin wrote and directed his first short film, Home Base in 2002; as of 2012 it had received over 20 million hits online. His first theatrical release was with Reality Show, a 2004 documentary film about the failed production of a reality television show. He sold his first spec script titled Tester to DreamWorks in 2006.
Colin paired up with Derek Connolly in 2008, ten years after they had first met as NYU students while they worked as interns on Saturday Night Live, to write a buddy cop film script called Cocked and Loaded. Colin said that the experience was so enjoyable that he even decided to give up solo screenwriting and work with Connolly.
He directed Safety Not Guaranteed in 2012, a film that was inspired by a classified advertisement which ran in a 1997 issue of Backwoods Home Magazine that read: “Wanted: Someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. Must bring your own weapons.
I have only done this once before. Safety Not Guaranteed.” The script was done by Connolly, who then intended for Trevor row to direct it. The film then received various accolades which include a nomination for Trevor row for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
This film was then nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, where it then picked up the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.
After the release of Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin and Connolly were hired by the Walt Disney Company to write an as-yet unmade remake of the film Flight of the Navigator (1986).
Colin Trevorrow Jurassic World
Colin co-wrote and also directed Jurassic World (2015). He also provided his voice for the film’s character of Mr. DNA. Connolly and Colin also co-wrote the screenplay for its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which was then released in June 2018 and for which Colin is an executive producer.
Colin Trevorrow Book Of Henry
Colin next directed The Book of Henry after Jurassic World, which was written by Gregg Hurwitz. The Book of Henry was released by Focus Features on June 16, 2017 to generally negative reviews, although colin stood by the film.
It was announced in March 2015 that Colin would be directing the sci-fi thriller film Intelligent Life, which was bought by DreamWorks. He wrote the screenplay with Connolly, while Trevorrow, Frank Marshall, Big Beach, and Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment were announced as producing the film. While there has been other production news since, including Ava DuVernay also being attached to direct. As of May 2018, the film has not entered into production.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn announced that Trevorrow would direct Star Wars Episode IX (2019) in August 2015. Colin and Connolly Finally began writing the script for the film; however, writer Jack Thorne was brought in to rewrite the script due to dissatisfaction by Lucas film with their script in August 2017.
Colin left the project due to creative differences and was replaced as director by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams who will co-write the script with Chris Terrio by September 2017.
Colin Trevorrow Jurassic World 3
It was announced on March 30, 2018 that Colin would be returning to the Jurassic Park franchise to direct Jurassic World 3 (2021).
