David Edward Rainey is an American actor, director, and producer. Rainey is best known for his role as Dr. Jim Martin on the daytime soap opera “One Life to Live.” He played the character from 1993 to 2001, and again from 2003 to 2004. He also had recurring roles on the television shows “The Bay” and “Venice: The Series.”
In addition to his work in front of the camera, Rainey is also a talented director and producer. He has directed several episodes of “One Life to Live” and “Venice: The Series,” and he co-created and executive produced the digital series “Winterthorne.”
Rainey has also worked as a voice actor, providing voices for characters in the video games “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” and “Fallout 4.”

In 1994, he was a cast member on the MTV reality TV series The Real World: San Francisco. Rainey and his cast-mates moved into the house at 953 Lombard Street on Russian Hill on February 12 of that year.In the show’s season premiere, Rainey arrived at the house last because he was detained by police for a traffic incident. He also incurred many minor injuries while bike riding, for which he kept photos of them, which he then showed to his housemates.
The producers informed the housemates that they would be living with someone who was HIV-positive but they did not reveal who it was. As a result of Rainey’s injuries, which included scabs on his face, some of the other castmates incorrectly assumed the HIV-positive cast member was Rainey.
Rainey clashed with other roommates over his hygiene and his housemates also complained of his lack of consideration for others, and his need to monopolize conversation.
He had the most contentious relationship with Zamora. He denigrated Zamora’s career as an AIDS educator and also mocked his Cuban accent. Television writer and former television personality Judd Winick described Rainey as “obnoxious and homophobic.”
David Rainey Rachel Campos-Duffy
One of his closest relationships in the house was with Rachel Campos. Their relationship became romantic when they kissed on three occasions but it eventually dissolved.
This is during a heated argument, he revealed this to the other housemates, despite having promised her he would not. Though the other housemates were not surprised at the revelation, Campos termed it as betray of trust.
