Jake Anderson born Jacob Venn Martin Anderson is an American fishing captain aboard the fishing vessel Saga. He has been featured in the Discovery Channel documentary television series Deadliest Catch since 2007.



At only 17, he was fishing salmon off Bristol Bay in Alaska. When he was 20, he was on a trawler processor and began pot fishing at 25.

One year later, he became a greenhorn on the fishing vessel Northwestern. He worked there for the next six years. His hard work and commitment carried him from greenhorn to full-share deckhand to relief deck boss, under then Captain Sig Hansen.

Although he has experienced his fair share of trials, he has also worked to overcome them. Jake has matured and aged dramatically since his sister’s sudden death and his father’s murder.

His sister, Chelsea Dawn Anderson, had unexpectedly died during the season five episode “Bitter Tears.”. He later learned that his father, Keith Anderson, was mysteriously missing.

He was then presumed dead after his truck was found abandoned in rural Washington during the season six episode “Blown Off Course.”. The skeletal remains of his father were then found by a hiker in 2012, about a mile away from where his truck was abandoned.

He has been married to Jenna Anderson since May 12, 2012. Together, they have two children. They live together in Seattle, Washington.

He is an avid skateboarder and is sponsored by the American footwear and clothing company, DVS Shoes. He also has a signature skateboard shoe released through the company.

In an interview with Dr. Drew Pinsky, he revealed that he is a recovering alcoholic, and his addiction left him homeless for two years.

After harshly battling back, he was then confronted with the untimely deaths of his sister, father, and mentor, Phil Harris.

In his debut book, Relapse, he serves as an inspiration as he candidly shares his private journey to help overcome tragedy.
