Jon Anik Biography

Jon Anik is an American mixed martial arts commentator. He currently works for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Anik is also a former ESPN anchor and host of ESPN.com’s MMA Live.

In 1997, Jon graduated from The Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts. He then enrolled at Gettysburg College, where he was a member of Theta Chi. He earned a degree in political journalism from the university. He spent one semester at American University in Washington, D.C. He was working as an intern for the George Michael Sports Machine.

Anik has also interned in the sports department of The Metro West Daily News in Framingham, Mass.

Jon is also the host of the UFC’s flagship sports magazine show UFC Ultimate Insider. He has also filled in for Mike Goldberg to team with Joe Rogan at UFC 155.

He has assumed the role of the UFC’s main play-by-play commentator for all pay-per-view events since Mike Goldberg’s departure in 2017.

Jon has made several radio and TV appearances, including ESPN programs Sports Nation, and The Doug Gottlieb Show, The Scott Van Pelt Show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd. Other appearances include: ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas, ProMMA Radio, MMAjunkie Radio, MMA Weekly Radio, The MMA Hour, the Sherdog Radio Network. He also featured on the ESPN UFC podcast every week with his “Anik-dotes”

He was the play-by-play voice for Season 1 of Bellator Fighting Championships. He co-starred in the MMA feature film Warrior as he states “I was pleasantly surprised when I got the script that I had six wardrobe changes,” he told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I guess I was surprised I had that many lines.
