Katie Katro is an American news reporter and anchor. She is famous for her live news anchoring in 6abc Action News Channel and Fox 61 News. Katro is a  Montgomery County native.
Growing up, she watched Action News and was so much thrilled when she returned home to report for her dream station. Katie attended Abington High School (go Ghosts!) where she is a proud graduate. Through her strong communications program, she was able to dive into journalism. She produced news pieces that she shot and edited for Abington’s cable channel.
In her senior year, Katro was the editor-in-chief of her high school’s paper, The Abingtonian. During that time, she was awarded the Congressional Award Gold Medal for doing more than 400 hours of community service.
She then majored in journalism at Temple University with 15 competitive internships across New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. In one of the internships, Katie worked with Linda Ellerbee at Nick News. Ellerbee inspired Katie to go into journalism, and during this internship become a mentor.
Katie began working at 5NEWS in Fayetteville, Arkansas as a field reporter and fill-in anchor two days after graduating from Temple University. In her tenure, she covered several prominent events like the LPGA Tournament, the Walmart Shareholders Meeting, and the Bentonville Film Festival.

She also covered a plane crash carrying a former Walmart CEO. Katro dug into documents of a historical home of a famous aviator, set to be demolished. As a result of her coverage, she was able to help save the house. Katie also covered many visits by the presidential candidates, including Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump.
Katro moved to a station in Hartford, Connecticut where she then served on the Communications Advisory Board for Manchester Community College.
