Louis Gossett Jr. is an American actor, director, and producer. Gossett Jr. began acting in high school and continued his studies at the Actors Studio in New York City. In 1958, he made his Broadway debut in “A Raisin in the Sun” and later appeared in several other plays. His first film role came in 1961 with “A Raisin in the Sun” movie adaptation. Gossett Jr. gained recognition for his role as Fiddler in the 1977 television miniseries “Roots.” Which won nine Emmy Awards, including one for Gossett Jr.
