Marvin Bagley III is an American professional basketball player. Who currently plays as a power forward and center for the NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers. He was born on March 14, 1999, in Tempe, Arizona, USA.

Marvin played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils and was a 2018 Consensus All-American. He was also selected with the second overall pick by the Kings in the 2018 NbA draft.

He attended Corona del Sol High School in Tempe. Arizona as a freshman and Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona as a sophomore.

Marvin was born to Marvin Jr. and Tracy Caldwell. His father previously played college football at North Carolina A&T as well as with the Arizona Rattlers professionally.

Bagley played one year of college basketball at Duke University. Where he was named the ACC Player of the Year and a consensus All-American. He was considered one of the top prospects in the 2018 NBA draft class. And the Kings selected him with the second overall pick.

In his rookie season with the Kings. Bagley averaged 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. However, he missed significant time in his second and third seasons due to injuries.

In August 2021, Bagley was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Derrick Jones Jr. A 2021 first-round draft pick, and cash considerations. Since joining the Trail Blazers, Bagley has been a solid contributor off the bench. A veraging around 10 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Overall, Bagley has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career but has struggled with injuries. Which have hindered his development and consistency on the court. However, he is still young and has plenty of potential to continue growing and improving as a player.

He made his Duke debut on November 10, 2017, recording 25 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Elon University.

He recorded 34 points and a freshman record 15 rebounds for Duke as they defeated the Texas Longhorns 85–78 in overtime on November 24. Bagley tied the freshman record in rebounds recorded 4 days later in their next game and scored 30 points in an 87–84 win over the Florida Gators.

This would be the first time a Duke player would record such numbers for the team since the 1960s. He recorded 32 points and a record-high 21 rebounds in a 100–93 win over the Florida State Seminoles on December 30.

On January 13, 2018, with the 30 points and 11 rebounds Bagley III recorded on a 89–71 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He became the ACC’s newest record holder for most 30 point, 10 rebound double-doubles for a season.

At the end of the regular season, he was named both the ACC’s Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, as well as become a member of the All-ACC first team. Bagley was also named a consensus member of the All-American First-Team throughout multiple organizations.

In addition to that, he joined DeAndre Ayton and Trae Young to record the most freshmen players to join the consensus All-American First-Team in a season.

In 2018, following Duke’s loss in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, he announced his intention to forgo his final three seasons of collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2018 NBA draft

He was selected with the second overall in the 2018 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, behind his former high school teammate Deandre Ayton on June 21, 2018.

Bagley officially signed a rookie scale contract with the Kings on July 1, 2018. He made his professional debut with Sacramento on October 17, 2018.

That night, Bagley recorded 6 points and 5 rebounds in only 12 minutes of action coming off the bench in a 123–117 loss to the Utah Jazz. In his next game two days later, he recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks in a 149–129 blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

He recorded a season-high 20 points, 9 rebounds, a season-high 5 blocks, and 3 assists in a 126–112 loss to the Denver Nuggets On October 23.
