In 1995 Patricia was appointed by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani as a Judge of the Criminal Court of the City of New York. Prior to her appointment, she was a school teacher at NYC Public School.
In 1998 she served as the Acting justice of the State Supreme Court, 2nd Judicial District. She was later elected as a justice of the Supreme Court of Kings Country after two years retiring in March 2014.
During an interview with nydailynews.com in January 2014, she said; “My 16 years as a New York State Supreme Court Justice has been the most rewarding time of my professional life… I cherish the relationships and friendships that I have developed throughout the years.

Patricia is mentioned in a New Yorker article regarding Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old who spent over three years in Rikers Island awaiting trial. According to the article, she was the presiding judge who released Browder on his 31st court appearance.
