Gary Apple Biography
Gary Apple is an American television writer and sports anchor on SNY. He serves as host of Mets Pre and Post-Game Live. Apple was the lead host of SportsNite that airs every day at 10 expect if there is a Mets game.
He also delivers the network’s play-by-play for UConn Men’s basketball and hosts the pre-game, half-time and post-game shows for the eleven-time national champion UConn Women’s basketball program.
Apple has also worked for WNYT-TV (NBC affiliate), Albany, NY and WTOC-TV (CBS affiliate), Savannah, GA. During his tenure at WTOC, he was lauded with an Associated Press Award for Best Sports Reporting.

Apple served as the weekday sports anchor at KMOV-TV, the CBS station in St. Louis from 1986-1990. He was a sportscaster for Los Angeles TV station KTTV (FOX O&O) from 1990 through 1995. He was a sportscaster for the award-winning KTLA-TV, Channel 5, in Los Angeles and throughout America on Prime Sports’ Press Box. In Fall of 2013, Gary did play-by-play for The Football Network’s coverage of Ivy League Football.
He has also been a studio host for WFAN Radio and the Outdoor Life Network, where he co-hosted Summer Sportszone. He has worked at NBA TV as a studio host, and also as a studio host and anchor for MSG Network’s studio show, SportsDesk.

Apple spent more than seven years on WCBS-TV in NY. There, he was praised as the best sportscast in 2003 by the New York State Broadcasters Association. He also hosted “Sports Rap Live,” and served as the sideline reporter for New York Jets preseason NFL football at CBS-2.
He served as a sideline reporter for CBS Sports NASDAQ College Football and the College World Series while at CBS. Gary was also a studio host for CBS Sports Desk. Apple has made numerous appearances on the CBS Early Show.

Gary joined SNY in 2006 as the face of the network when SNY launched that very same year. He hosts Mets Pre-Game Live, Mets Post-Game Live, Mets First Pitch, and Mets Hot Stove. Gary has also hosted Mets Playoffs Live, Mets On Deck: Playoff Edition, Mets Pre-Game: Playoff Edition, Mets Post-Game Live: Playoff Edition and also Mets Playoffs Extra.
From 2006 to 2008, he hosted Daily News Live. He has appeared on Beer Money with Dan Schachner and hosted a special called Mets Hall of Fame: Mike Piazza.
Apple has also filled in for Chris Carlin for a segment on New York Mets Season Games called Game Break. Gary was the back-up on-field reporter for the New York Mets Season Games as he previously filled in for Kevin Burkhardt on the New York Mets Season Games.

He won an Emmy Award for hosting the SportsNite: Lebron James special in 2010. He has other credits which include: reporting for ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” and play-by-play for USA Network’s college basketball and for University of Missouri basketball.
