Goff was a standout football player at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California. In his high school career, he threw for 7,687 yards and 93 touchdowns, and as a senior, he was voted the California State Player of the Year.
Goff began his college football career in 2013 with the California Golden Bears at the University of California, Berkeley. He served as the team’s starting quarterback from 2013 to 2015 for three seasons.
Goff broke multiple school and conference milestones throughout his time in college, including the most passing yards in a season and the most passing yards in his entire career. In both 2015 and 2016, he received first-team All-Pac-12 recognition. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2017.
The Rams dealt Goff to the Detroit Lions in January 2021 as part of a huge deal that also entailed moving Matthew Stafford to the Rams.
Goff is well-known for his charity endeavors off the field. In addition to establishing his own charity, the Goff charity, which supports youth organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has partnered with groups including Make-A-Wish and the Boys and Girls Club.
