Jim Dickey Biography
Jim Dickey is an American meteorologist for ABC7 born in Pittsburgh. His meteorology career started out of a fear of severe weather, borne from a funnel cloud passing over his home at 6 years old.
The fear then grew into a fascination and lifelong pursuit of understanding. Dickey’s only interest grew through experiencing the impacts of the 1993 Superstorm, the Blizzard of 1996, and Hurricane Floyd in eastern PA.
Dickey joined Penn State to pursue a B.S. in Meteorology in 2006. There, he interned with the National Weather Service in State College, PA as part of the SCEP program. In 2010, he graduated with distinction later joining AccuWeather Inc. as a Broadcast Meteorologist.
He produced weathercasts for many locations across the U.S. and the world at AccuWeather. He also served as the Morning Weather Anchor for WVII-TV in Bangor, ME from 2012-2014. Dickey also made appearances on a number of cable networks, including Fox News, Fox Business, HLN, the Lifetime Network and Bloomberg.

From 2012, he was a regular contributor to ABC World News Now, including live coverage during many major weather events including Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Sandy, and a number of tornado outbreaks and winter storms. In October 2013, he was awarded the title of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society.
Dickey joined the ABC7 weather team in January 2015. He enjoys golf, listening to music of all genres, traveling to new places, and taking his dog for a walk on a sunny afternoon.
