Mike Sorrentino (Michael) is an American also known as “The Situation,” is an American television personality, actor, and model. He was born on July 4, 1982, in Staten Island, New York, and raised in Manalapan Township, New Jersey.

Michael attended Brook dale Community College where he obtained an associate’s degree and then attended Kean University and Monmouth University. He worked as an assistant manager of a fitness center in Staten Island. He lost this job when he was 25 and began underwear modelling.

He was then charged with tax fraud in September 2014, allegedly avoiding paying taxes on $8.9 million. According to the United States Attorney, Michael and his brother, Marc, established S corporations that paid for personal expenses and also failed to report income.

Further charges were levied against him and his brother in April 2017, alleging tax evasion and also the structuring of bank deposits to avoid reporting thresholds.

Mike pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion, as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors on January 19, 2018. The sentencing occurred on October 5 at the United States District Court of New Jersey in Newark.

Mike was sentenced on October 5, 2018 to 8 months in prison, 2 years of supervised probation, and 500 hours of community service.

An order was issued by United States District Judge Susan Wigenton on October 22, 2018 extending the date for him to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons no earlier than January 15, 2019, or as soon thereafter as the Bureau of Prisons shall designate. The Bureau of Prisons will later designate the location.
