Amy opted out a career in music and she chose international business instead. While attending American University in Washington DC, she took a course in creative writing with renowned poet Ann Darr that has entirely changed her life. Amy and Terefe made a ground breaking spoken word record which turned Amy’s focus entirely to music. From there, the progression to becoming a lyricist was natural.
The Nashville Scene described her as a “successful songwriter” whose songs had “hit the No. 1 slot” 3 times by 2009. Foster is best known for her collaborations with Michael Bublé, Foster has co-written “Home”, “Everything”, “Hold On”, “Just Haven’t Met You Yet”, To Be Loved, and “Beautiful Day”. Foster’s songs have also been cut by Blake Shelton, Destiny’s Child, Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli.
She states that when Bublé sent her an early draft of Home her first thoughts were, “Oh, great, complain about being stuck in Europe,” nevertheless, she related to the idea of missing someone, and agreed to help write the song.
