Sara McCloskey Career

Sara started of her career in journalism in radio at New Talk WHCU in Ithaca, NY as a Reporter and Weekend Morning Anchor.

In March 2015, she was a freelance camera operator at NBC News. She operated camera equipment during NBC Nightly News’ coverage of the 50th Anniversary of the march from Selma to Montgomery. She was influential in the coverage of President Barack Obama’s address as well as the ‘Bloody Sunday’ memorial march. She also interviewed selected subjects for the broadcast. At WICB 91.7 FM, Ithaca, New York Area, she was news director where she oversaw news content for 92 WICB as well as the online sister station VIC Radio. Her responsibilities also included overseeing a team of up to 20 people who prepare and deliver daily newscasts and executive producing “Ithaca Now,” a weekly 30 minute program on local news in Tompkins County. She edited with ProTools to create news packages for “Ithaca Now.”

She served at Cayuga Radio Group as a new reporter and anchor from May 2015 to February 2016. There, she made reports for hourly newscasts that are broadcasted on 9 stations throughout the Finger lakes, Syracuse and Binghamton area. She also anchored and conducted interviews and edited news stories for the morning and evening news program. She also created online content for the website as well as engages the community through social media.

McCloskey joined Nexstar Media Group, Inc. in Burlington, Vermont Area in 2016 reporter and weekend producer. She has served as a multimedia news reporter at Local 22 ABC and Local 44 FOX in Burlington, covering Vermont as well as parts of New York State and New Hampshire. She writes and edits
with Adobe Premiere and utilizes social media while reporting for four evening newscasts. She works as the
weekend producer as well, overseeing six newscasts for both stations, writing stories and executing production aspects of the programs.

She also has experience working morning shifts, reporting and producing for a 4-hour program. She is a multimedia journalist and Capitol Bureau Reporter at the Nexstar Media Group, Inc in Richmond Virginia since February 2018. She works with six stations in the Commonwealth, reporting, editing and shooting own stories focused on politics and statewide issues.
