Richard Linklater Biography
Richard Linklater (Richard Stuart) is an American filmmaker and screenwriter known for his innovative and genre-bending films. His realistic and natural humanist films are mostly known. which then revolve mainly around suburban culture and the effects of the passage of time.
Linklater began his career making experimental short films in the 1980s, which led to his first feature film, “It’s Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books” (1988).
He gained critical acclaim for his breakthrough film, “Slacker” (1991), a meandering narrative about a group of young people in Austin, Texas, that helped define the independent film movement of the 1990s.

Linklater directed several notable films, including “Before Sunrise” (1995), which generated two sequels, “Before Sunset” (2004) and “Before Midnight” (2013); “Waking Life” (2001), an experimental animated film that explores dreams and philosophy; “School of Rock” (2003), a comedy that features Jack Black as a substitute teacher who forms a rock band with his students; and “Boyhood” (2014), a groundbreaking drama that depicts the life of a boy from childhood to adolescence and was filmed over 12 years.
