Molly Larkey Biography
Molly Larkey is an American artist and daughter of American singer-songwriter Carole King and bass player Charles Larkey. She attended the Columbia University and Rutgers University. From Rutgers University, New Jersey she received an MFA and a BA from Columbia University, New York.
Larkey is a sculptor working with a variety of materials whose work references formalism and abstraction combined with symbolic imagery and bright colours.
She is also concerned with the way in which art functions as a means of communication. Larkey has made pencil copies of drawings and manuscript pages of famous writers who have committed suicide.
Molly works in multiple mediums, often accessing interests in form and color through conceptual inquiries. Her work was included in several group exhibitions at Luis De Jesus Los Angeles in 2013 and 2014.
Larkey’s work has also been featured in exhibitions at PS1 MoMA, New York; The Saatchi Gallery, London; LACMA, Los Angeles; The Drawing Center, New York; Horton Gallery, New York; Ochi Gallery, Ketchum; Samson Projects, Boston; and Human Resources, Commonwealth & Council, Control Room, Post, and Weekend, all in Los Angeles.
